An action-packed day is on the cards as four teams battle it out to claim the last two quarter final berths on Tuesday. Morocco will take on Spain in the first match of the day, whereas Portugal will lock horns with Switzerland in the last match of this Round of 16. Here, we take a look at how the teams stack up ahead of these encounters and who have the best chances of securing a win in these contests.
Morocco vs Spain
Morocco surprised everyone in the group stage as they finished at the top of Group F having gone unbeaten in all of their three matches. They were clinical in offense and very strong in defense, as they conceded just a solitary goal during the course of the three games while scoring four times. But facing a side like Spain is going to be a different challenge altogether. Spain have already shown what they are capable of as they pulled off a massive 7-0 win against Costa Rica in their opening encounter of this World Cup campaign. They faltered a bit in the next couple of matches to finish second in their group but the quality and big game experience is still there to help them win this match. We are backing Spain to win 2-1 here.
Portugal vs Switzerland
Portugal looks like the stronger team on paper and they also finished first in Group H as compared to Switzerland’s second-place finish in Group G. But the Swiss team still has plenty of quality and flair in their ranks to surprise Cristiano Ronaldo and his men here. They have shaped up quite well in both offense and defense in this campaign and are expected to deliver a competitive performance against their Portuguese counterparts. Don’t be surprised if this match goes towards a penalty shootout, the second one of this campaign. But we are still backing Portugal to win even in that case.
