Mohun Bagan Super Giant completed the signing of Albanian center-forward Armando Sadiku on a two-year contract on Sunday. The 32-year-old made headlines during Euro 2016. He scored the decisive goal in Albania’s historic victory over Romania.

With Sadiku’s arrival, Mohun Bagan boasts a formidable attacking lineup. The Albanian will complement the presence of Hugo Boumous and Dimitri Petratos. The club is also rumored to be on the verge of signing Jason Cummings from A-League’s Central Coast. Reports suggest that Finnish midfielder Joni Kauko may be released due to his inability to recover from injury.

Expressing his excitement about joining Mohun Bagan, Sadiku highlighted the positive impression of Indian football in Spain. He revealed that the club’s century-old heritage played a role in his decision to move to India. Sadiku expressed his hope of replicating the team’s triumph in the Indian Super League last season and contributing to other competitions’ success.

With a notable presence in the Spanish League, Sadiku most recently played for La Liga 2 side FC Cartagena. According to ‘transfermarkt,’ his current market value is Rs 5.6 crore.

Sadiku aims to fill the void left by Joni Kauko. The Finnish player suffered an ACL injury against FC Goa. He will be sidelined for the rest of the season. With 38 appearances and 12 goals for Albania, Sadiku brings in international experience.

As the transfer window remains active, Mohun Bagan recently secured the signing of Anirudh Thapa on a five-year contract. Such a move will further bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
