Indian Super League Shield winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant have signed Australian forward Jamie Maclaren from A-League club Melbourne City FC. The Kolkata-based club announced the four-year deal last week. They shared a video on their social media accounts to unveil the signing.
The 30-year-old is one of the top strikers among AFC teams. He brings an experience and a proven goal-scoring record to Mohun Bagan. Having played in Australia and Scotland, Maclaren can add to the power. His acquisition marks the club’s fourth Australian signing.
Maclaren’s career is exceptional for his goal-scoring ability and international experience. He represents Australia, most recently participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Maclaren honed his skills at Green Gully SC, where he competed against seasoned players. His prolific performance against Manchester United earned him a contract with Blackburn Rovers in England in 2009.
Returning to Australia, Maclaren joined Perth Glory and enjoyed a standout season in 2014-15, netting ten goals. His move to Brisbane Roar proved even more fruitful. He scored 18 goals in his first season and won the Golden Boot the following year. After that, his journey continued in Germany with Darmstadt 98. On a loan spell at Scotland’s Hibernian, he famously scored a hat-trick against Rangers.
In 2019, Maclaren’s career reached new heights at Melbourne City FC. He clinched the Golden Boot and became the club’s all-time top scorer with 103 goals. He leaves the A-League as its record goal-scorer with 149 goals and three consecutive championship titles. These achievements cemented his legacy in Australian football.
Maclaren debuted for the Australian senior team in 2016. Since then, he has represented his country 32 times, scoring 11 goals for the Socceroos. His goal-scoring prowess will be invaluable to Mohun Bagan.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s head coach and fans alike expect Maclaren to strengthen the team. His arrival adds firepower to the squad. It also positions the club as a strong contender for the upcoming ISL season. With Maclaren leading the attack, Mohun Bagan can aim for further glory in Indian football.
