Mumbai City FC have grabbed the attention of the Indian football community with the signing of experienced goalkeeper TP Rehenesh. The deal is a free transfer. With his skills, the 31-year-old joins the reigning Indian Super League champions on a three-year deal.

Rehenesh TP brings in a commanding presence and shot-stopping prowess with over a decade of experience in Indian football. He has 59 clean sheets in 204 appearances in domestic competitions alone. What more can he do to make his case as one of the most experienced custodians in the country? He recently turned out for Jamshedpur FC with great success. The player proved to be instrumental in their victory in the 2021-22 ISL League Winners’ Shield—attaining six clean sheets in 20 games.

His reputation was consolidated in the 2023-24 ISL season, getting 61 saves to his credit—clear testimony to his exceptional skills between the posts. He is known for his great skills on the field. Yet, leadership and communication have been the other hallmarks of Rehenesh’s game. He shows excellent ability to organize and motivate the defensive line.

Reacting to the new signing, Mumbai City FC’s Head Coach Petr Kratky was excited about how much depth and competition Rehenesh brings into the squad. “TP Rehenesh is one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the country, and we are happy that he decided to join us. He can make match-winning saves, which keeps him at the top; he will greatly support the team while defending goals,” said Kratky.

The current first-choice goalkeeper for Mumbai City FC is Phurba Lachenpa. With Rehenesh coming into the scene, there will be a battle between the two goalkeepers for the starting spot. This can only help improve their performances. This strategic depth will be important as Mumbai City FC looks to stay at the top in the ISL and beyond.

Rehenesh is excited about this new chapter in his career with Mumbai City FC. He said, “The team has been exceptional over the last two years. It is a team that has won trophies and performed at the highest level.”

Mumbai City FC fans are looking forward to the next season, wondering what experience and skill Rehenesh will bring to the team’s defence. He has the leadership, experience, and skills in goalkeeping to make the club one of the strongest contenders in Indian football.

As Rehenesh settles into this new role, he will likely bring confidence into the team’s defense. His consistency is a good sign for Mumbai City FC as they strive to continue their triumphs in the coming seasons.
