Punjab Kings (PBKS) host Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday, May 14. The home team have been in a rut currently, having lost their last four games in a row after leading the table at one stage. MI, meanwhile, have been knocked out of the tournament and have little except pride to play for. There is a possibility of rain in this fixture, but if it stays away, PBKS will aim to end their winless run and book their spot in the playoffs.
Predicted Teams
PBKS: Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (c), Suryansh Shedge, Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen, Ben Dwarshuis, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal.
MI: Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Robin Minz, Raj Bawa, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah (c), AM Ghazanfar.
Key Players
Arshdeep Singh (PBKS): Arshdeep Singh is one of the stars in this PBKS unit. The left-arm pace is known for being accurate with the new ball, and then returning to bowl slower deliveries and other variations when it gets old. Arshdeep is a wily customer and knows how to tackle batters from different angles. The fact that he can also bowl searing yorkers in the death makes Arshdeep a challenging bowler to handle.
Tilak Varma (MI): With Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya not available, the bulk of MI’s scoring will have to be done by Tilak Varma in the middle order. The southpaw was recently named India A’s captain for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, and he will use this confidence to get some quick runs in Dharamsala. While Rohit Sharma can get MI off to a good start, Varma will have to essay the role of both an anchor and a finisher towards the death.
Match Prediction
The four consecutive losses will have stung PBKS, and we expect a strong comeback here. MI will be hampered by the loss of Hardik Pandya due to injury and Suryakumar Yadav owing to the birth of his child. With these star players not available, the visitors will have to rely on the youngsters in their side to put up a notable performance. Dharamsala is known to benefit positive-minded batting, and PBKS outweigh MI with regard to that discussion.
Lucknow Super Giants vs Chennai Super Kings – Indian Premier League Preview (15.05.2026)
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clash against each other at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Friday, May 15. LSG are ranked last in the table and have been eliminated from the playoff race. CSK, however, are still alive and perched on the fifth spot. Despite their poor start, CSK have an outsider’s chance of making it to the playoffs, and a victory in this encounter will help them go a long way. For LSG, this match will be all about pleasing their supporters.
Predicted Teams
LSG: Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (wk/c), Aiden Markram, Akshat Raghuwanshi, Himmat Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Shami, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Prince Yadav.
CSK: Sanju Samson (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Jamie Overton, Akeal Hosein, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary.
Key Players
Josh Inglis (LSG): Josh Inglis provided some much-needed ammo at the top of the order for LSG in their last encounter. He scored a brilliant 85 and was responsible for sending the CSK bowlers on a leather hunt. The Australian is known to take on bowlers inside the powerplay, clearing the fielders with ease. Inglis is also good against short deliveries, and has no hesitation in pulling, hooking or cutting the ball.
Urvil Patel (CSK): Urvil Patel’s 23-ball 65 stood out for CSK and helped them defeat LSG in their previous outing. The Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter is explosive at the top of the order and can comfortably tear into the best bowlers in the world. Patel is known for his ability to pick up length quickly and then get into good positions to play a wide range of strokes. He will have a massive role to play for CSK in this game, whether they are putting up a big total on the board or chasing one.
Match Prediction
CSK are the favourites to win. They have a much more balanced outfit than LSG, and most recently defeated the same opponents at home. LSG’s Indian core has not fired at all this season. While a lot will be expected from captain Rishabh Pant, the other Indians in the squad also have to put their hands up. CSK, meanwhile, are heavy at the top, with the likes of Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Urvil Patel promising plenty inside the powerplay.
